Seven thousand of the 50,000 German-Jewish refugees who entered England since the advent of the Nazi regime in Germany are now serving with the British armed forces, it was revealed today by Otto M. Schiff, chairman of the German-Jewish Aid Committee. Only 300 of the refugees, Schiff reported, are still being detained in internment centers.
The figures were announced at a meeting to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the anti-Jewish boycott in Germany, which was the prelude to legislation which swept the Jews out of Germany’s economic life and reduced them to the status of subjects, culminating in mass deportation.
