More than 70,000 Polish textile workers, including 7,000 Jews, varried out a one-day strike against the action of the employers in slashing their wages and forbidding union activities. The strike halted all activity in the huge textile mills of the city.
The Jewish strike committee was made up of all elements in the Jewish working class and was a united front effort. Jewish Communists, Socialists and even conservative trade unionists united in forming the strike committee.
