Monsignor Charles Owen Rice, popularly known as Western Pennsylvania’s “labor priest,” was honored here last night by more than 600 civic, communal and labor leaders at an impressive dinner in behalf of State of Israel Bonds.
Approximately $700,000 in Israel bonds were sold at the dinner, which was the occasion for a city-wide tribute of the labor movement to Monsignor Rice for his many years of crusading leadership in behalf of social justice and the cause of labor, and for his warm friendship and support for the State of Israel.
