Wing Commander Lionel Cohen of South Africa, 71 year-old veteran of four wars, was today awarded the United States Air Medal for his services to American naval squadrons during the last war. The presentation took place at a ceremony at U.S. Naval Headquarters in London.
During World War II, at the age of 68, Cohen received the Distinguished Flying Cross for “untiring energy and courage.” He was awarded the British Distinguished Service Order and the Military Cross during World War I. He has already completed more than 50 years of military service.
