Representatives of 75 Jewish organizations in New York City met in a conference last Sunday and determined upon a united and intensive effort to assure the continued existence and service of the Los Angeles Sanatorium and Ex-Patients’ Home through adequate support from New York.
The conference was presided over by John L. Bernstein. Rabbi Nathan Krass. who made the principal address. emphasized the debt that New York owes to the Los Angeles institution. Dr. Samuel C. Kohs, director of the Brooklyn Federation, described his personal impressions of the Sanatorium declaring that it deserved the fullest support and confidence of all Jewry. B. Charney Vladeck also called upon those present to take immediate and effective steps to place New York’s participation in the institution’s work on a firm basis. Abraham Shohan, Executive Director of the Sanatorium, reported on the organization’s work.
