The memorial observance marking the 30th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and the loss of six million Jews in the holocaust was attended by more than 800 persons last night at Temple Israel in suburban Silver Spring, Dr. Harry Ammerman, president of the Jewish Community Council of Greater Washington which sponsored the observance, declared April 30 as a day of mourning.
Daniel Leivick, director of the Judaic education program at the Jewish Community Center, read two poems. One was by his late father. H. Leivick, the noted Yiddish poet, and the other by Abraham Sutzkever, a survivor of the Nazi concentration camps who now edits a Yiddish monthly literary magazine. The Golden Chain, in Israel.
