A Walter E. Meyer Chair in Administrative Law at the Law School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has been established in memory of the late Walter E. Meyer of New York, it was announced today by Philip M. Klutznick, president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University. Approximately $800, 000 has already been made available to the University, and further sums are expected, from Mr. Meyer’s estate. The University was named both a direct and a residuary beneficiary.
Although the will placed no restrictions upon the use of the funds, the University decided to honor Mr. Meyer’s memory by perpetuating his name in its Faculty of Law. Mr. Meyer, brother of the late Eugene Meyer, owner of the Washington Post, was one of the earliest members of the Board of Governors of the Hebrew University. He was also a member of the board of directors of the American Friends of the Hebrew University for many years, and served as its treasurer.
Mr. Klutznick also announced today that the American Friends of the Hebrew University reelected 31 members of its board and elected seven new board members.
