Jews were the victims of 819 pogroms in Russia since the war, according to the tabulation of the “Yidgescom”, or All Russian Jewish Relief Committee, which is staging an exhibit in Moscow of its activities.
The figures are published as part of the exhibit showing the organization’s activities in ameliorating the post-pogrom conditions.
Of the 819 pogroms, 430 were the work of regular bandit groups, 170 were engineered by General Denikin’s forces, 129 by General Petlura’s armies, 46 were perpetrated by General Balachowicz and 44 were Polish inspired, according to the Idgescom.
The exhibit outlines the medical relief extended, the help for Jewish colonists and the child welfare work performed by the organization.
