The SS Taurus, carrying 925 Jews, including 360 children, has sailed from the Rumanian port of Constanza for Palestine, it was announced today. The ship is travelling under the protection of the Rumanian Red Cross.
Meanwhile, 300 Jews who left Bucharest two weeks ago for Palestine returned here today. Both Bulgaria and Turkey have refused to grant them transit visas. The entire question of the emigration of Rumanian Jews to Palestine is expected to be discussed with the government and Jewish leaders later this week by David Ben-Gurion, chairman of the executive of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, who is now in Sofia.
