A Cherem, religious ban, was declared against Jewish artisan, tailor and bootmaker guilds in the town of Tonrov, Minsk District, which voted to work on Saturday and set aside Monday as the day of rest instead.

Those within the guilds who voted against the resolution were condemned as backward elements at a special meeting of the guilds.
