A coalition of Jewish groups called on President Bush to intervene in the crisis in Darfur, Sudan, where the international community has foundered in its efforts to stop the government-backed slaughter of non-Arab minorities. In a letter to the president Friday, the coalition calls on Bush “to assert moral and political leadership, promoting immediate and comprehensive international intervention,” including an increase in peacekeeping troops and humanitarian aid.
