A delegation from the Israel Policy Forum met with Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and praised her recent visit to Syria. Top officers of the dovish pro-Israel group visited Tuesday with Pelosi, speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and a number of other Democrats. “We told her we were troubled by administration criticism of her trip” to Syria, IPF President Seymour Reich said. Bush administration officials accused Pelosi of giving succor to Syrian President Bashar Assad, a backer of terrorist groups. Pelosi said she confronted Assad about his backing for terrorism and delivered important messages from Israel. The IPF group also urged backing for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and negotiations for a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
