A drive for $125,000 to aid in the establishment of psychiatric clinical service and mental health education cantors in Israel will be launched soon in the United States by the American Advisory Committee on Mental ##giene in Israel, it was revealed at a press conference hero today by Dr. M. Ralph ###n, chairman of the Committee. The group is sponsored by the American Funds for Palestinian Institutions.

Dr. Kaufman reported that only 270 beds are available for mental patients in Israel. A country with a population close to a million, such as Israel, should have 3,000 beds, he said. “A new state such as Israel with a population coming from ### different cultural, economic and political backgrounds, many of whom have spent years in concentration camps, displaced persons camps and migratory existence, must, of necessity, set up a mental health program that will enable these people to adjust themselves, with a minimum of difficulty, to the life of Israel,” Dr. Kaufman pointed out.
