A Dutch soldier who made anti-Semitic remarks in a recent newspaper interview while on home leave from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has been detached from his unit and will not return to Lebanon, the army authorities announced. The soldier, identified only as “a conscript,” was quoted by the weekly Haasge Post as saying it was a pity the gas chambers were closed in 1945 so that another four million Jews were not exterminated.
