The Histadrut, Israel’s Labor Federation, can be sure of the support of the American labor movement in its work for freedom, George Meany, president of the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations, declared here last night at a farewell dinner in behalf of the Histadrut.
A similar assurance was presented at the event by George Harrison, an AFL-CIO vice-president. The two labor leaders have been visiting Israel during the past week. They left Israel for the United States. Among leaders present at the dinner were Finance Minister Levi Eshkol, American Ambassador Walworth Barbour, Tel Aviv Mayor Mordechai Namir and Moshe Sharett, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive.
