A former Mossad deputy chief was named Israel’s next national security adviser. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s office announced Saturday that Ilan Mizrachi, who retired from the Mossad intelligence agency in 2002, will take over the National Security Council next month. He will replace the current national security adviser, Giora Eiland. An Iran expert, Mizrachi is expected to try to boost the NSC’s influence in strategic decision making and unite Israel’s various security agencies.
