A fugitive Israeli Arab leader attended a Beirut conference on last year’s Lebanon war.
Azmi Bishara, a former Knesset member who resigned and fled Israel this year after it emerged that he could be prosecuted for illicit communications with Hezbollah, attended an anniversary conference in Beirut this week marking a year since the war between the Lebanese militia and Israel.
Bishara praised the “victims” and “fighters” on the Lebanese side of the 34-day conflict. He accused Israel of using the “pretext” of a Hezbollah border raid in which two soldiers were abducted to launch a large-scale offensive against its northern neighbor.
Hezbollah politicians and notables from other Lebanese sectors attended the conference.
