A German chiropractor was killed when Israeli troops fired on the Arab town of Beit Jalla. Harald Fischer, 68, was cut down by bullets when he left his home to try to help wounded neighbors, said his Palestinian wife, Norma. German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, who is not related to the victim, said he was “shocked and horrified” by the killing and demanded that Israel conduct an immediate investigation.
