A German Jewish leader asked Germany’s Constitutional Court to prevent the state from mixing in religious matters.Paul Spiegel, head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, made the request. At issue is a ruling last year from a court recognizing the rights of a liberal Jewish congregation in Halle to partake in state funding channeled through the Central Council.
