A government spokesman said last week that he had no knowledge of reports that certain Arab Missions here were arming themselves because of an alleged inadequacy of police protection. Anthony Kershaw, Undersecretary of State, replying to Labor MP Greville Janner who asked if it was true that Mission members were carrying sub-machineguns, said: “Not to our knowledge, but if it were to come to our notice we would take a serious view of it.”
