A great number of Serbian peasants are willing to volunteer for service in Palestine to defend the Jewish population against Moslem Arab attacks.
A communique to this effect was read at the Jewish mass meeting to protest against the Palestine outrages held here today. The announcement came from the Peasant Congress now in session here. The peasant leaders added that they are ready to come to the defense of the Jews in Palestine, as the Serbian Jews volunteered in the Serbian army during the World War to defend Serbia.
Many thousands attended the mass-meeting, which was presided over by Mr. Pop, president of the Ashkenazic Jewish community. Chief Rabbi of Serbia. Dr. Alkalay, proclaimed Wednesday, Sept. 4 as a day of fast and prayer. A resolution was adopted by the mass meeting expressing solidarity with the Jews of Palestine and a determination to continue and increase the Palestine upbuiliding work.
