A group calling itself Islamic Jihad of Yemen claimed responsibility for an attack on the United States Embassy in Yemen.
A car bomb and terrorists firing rocket-propelled grenades and automatic rifles killed 16 people in Wednesday’s attack. No Americans were killed or injured in the attack, according to reports. The dead included attackers, security guards and four bystanders.
The U.S. Embassy in Yemen was the target of a mortar attack in March, which missed the building and hit a girl’s high school next door.
Al-Qaida is active in Yemen, though the government has been working to suppress it.
