A group of Israelis marked Tu B’Shevat by planting trees in Palestinian orchards. Volunteers from Israel’s Kibbutz Movement, the New Israel Fund and Rabbis for Human Rights flocked to Salem, a Palestinian village outside Nablus, over the weekend to replace some 1,200 trees that recently were uprooted. Palestinians said the trees were uprooted by Israeli settlers, though police investigations have not yet led to any criminal charges.
