A growing number of Israeli officials are criticizing Diaspora Jews for canceling trips to Israel because of fears of terror attacks. Transportation Minister Ephraim Sneh spoke of the “disgraceful” behavior of those “who for all these years have talked to us about the unity of the Jewish people over mounds of bagels and lox.” The criticisms were prompted by the decision of the U.S. Reform movement to cancel its summer youth camps in Israel, and by the growing number of Maccabiah officials around the world who want to postpone the Maccabiah Games, slated to begin next month.
