A Jewish cemetery in Slovakia was desecrated by unknown perpetrators. Police said about 20 gravestones were torn down and several graves destroyed in Michalovce. The damage was discovered by the cemetery’s manager, who said the perpetrators had carried out the attack within the past two weeks. The cemetery, which contains some 1,250 graves, also was desecrated in 1991, when some 40 graves were destroyed.
