A Jewish charity is circulating a petition repudiating claims that a grass-roots funder for Democrats is anti-Semitic. Some Republicans have charged MoveOn.org with anti-Semitism because of anonymous remarks posted on its Web site over the summer. MoveOn, which includes a number of Jews in leading positions, removed the remarks immediately, and the Anti-Defamation League said the group had dealt with the matter satisfactorily. “We are committed to fighting real anti-Semitism when it appears,” says the petition circulated by Jewish Funds for Justice, a group that raises money for progressive causes. “But we will not stand by while others manipulate our fear of anti-Semitism for political gain.”
