A Jewish writer known for his depictions of life in London’s heavily Jewish East End has died. The film version of Wolf Mankowitz’s “The Bespoke Overcoat,” which details the life of a Jewish tailor, won an Academy Award in the short- subject category in 1956. Mankowitz was 73.
