A Knesset committee probing assets that Israeli banks and other institutions have kept from the heirs of Holocaust victims held its first meeting. The meeting dealt mostly with outlining the main issues and setting up the inquiry. One committee member said it is as if “we are sitting in July 1995 in Switzerland,” referring to Israel’s delay in handling the issue and comparing it to similar charges that faced the Alpine nation several years ago.
