A larger Y. M. H. A. building in Washington Heights will open June 1. The present structure has been found inadequate in its efforts to house the many Jewish people and Jewish activities of the community.
The “Y” will occupy its new quarters at the George Washington. Bridge Plaza, on the northeast corner of Fort Washington avenue and 178th street.
Mrs Burton K. Straus, treasurer of the Junior League of the New York Guild for the Jewish Blind, is chairman of the Junior League committee of the benefit concert to be held for the Guild at Carnegie Hall on April 15. Others on this committee are the misses Anita P. Cardozo, Lenore Gardner, Rhonie Hofheimer, Alice Krass, Joan Levy, Margery Lewine, Evelyn Milkman, Janet Rosenwald, Louise Schwartz and Dorothy Steinfeld, and Mesdames Louis Otten and Sidney E. Pollack.
