A lawsuit filed last week in a district court in Florida seeks to require state prisons to provide Jewish inmates with kosher meals. “Federal prisons throughout the country and at least 19 state departments of correction routinely provide kosher food,” according to Isaac Jaroslawicz of Miami’s Aleph Institute, a nonprofit group that filed the lawsuit on behalf of the inmate.
