A leader of the Jewish Defense League jailed for allegedly conspiring to bomb a mosque and an Arab American representative’s office in Los Angeles tried to commit suicide. Irv Rubin, who was arrested in December 2001, tried to slit his throat and jumped over a rail onto a cement floor as he was being brought to court Monday, his lawyer said. Rubin’s condition is unknown.
