This document, emanating from Hitler’s chancellery in Munich and addressed to Del Monteroca, read as follows:
“Since Herr Hitler is traveling, I am sorry that it is not possible for me to present him with your letter of September 26. Since the leader, as a consequence of the troublesome political situation, continues to remain away from Munich I must ask you presently—in case you should be remaining here—to ask us over the telephone when the interview can be arranged.***
