A message of condolence was despatched to the family of Luigi Luzzatti by the Association of Jewish Merchants. Expressions of sympathy were also sent by the B’nai Brith lodge in Lodz, to the Luzzatti family and to the Italian branch of the B’nai Brith.

Miss Ruth Richards, daughter of Bernarg G. Richards, writer and social worker, was chosen President of the Undergraduate Association of Barnard College at the annual election just held.

Miss Richards is a junior. Other Barnard honors won by her include the Presidency of the freshman class, the undergraduate Secretaryship and the editorship of the Mortarboard.

Mortimer L. Schiff contributed $50,000 to the Boy Scout Foundation of Greater New York in its campaign to raise $1,000,000 for a permanent camp and for general expenses. Announcement of his gift and of the drive was made at a luncheon Thursday in the Manhattan Club, at which Victor F. Ridder presided. Mr. Schiff was unable to attend and Mr. Ridder made the announcement for him.
