Israeli artillery fired on terrorist positions in south Lebanon after several Katyusha rockets were fired at settlements in Upper Galilee. It was reported that an Israeli army patrol discovered a large terrorist arms cache on the western slopes of Mt. Hermon. It contained Karl Gustaff submachineguns, hand grenades, explosive charges, axes, ropes and other equipment Belts filled with explosives were found, believed intended for use as “suicide jackets” indicating that the users would blow themselves up rather than be captured.
