A Moroccan court sentenced a Jewish pop star to three years in jail and fined him $13.3 million because he did not have the necessary papers to take foreign currency abroad when he prepared to leave Morocco earlier this month. The fine against Cohen Pinhas, who is well-known in North Africa and France, came after Morocco suspended low-level diplomatic ties with Israel to protest what it considers the Jewish state’s harsh treatment of the Palestinians.
