A new group is supporting Israeli army reservists who refuse to serve in the West Bank and Gaza. In a full-page ad in The New York Times, the Tikkun Community, an organization of liberal and progressive Jews, called for an immediate end to Israel’s “occupation” of the Gaza Strip and West Bank and advocated reparations for Palestinian refugees. The group called for a worldwide fast day March 27 to support the reservists and to oppose violence by both Israelis and Palestinians.
