A newly restored synagogue was inaugurated in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The city’s mayor, the U.S. and Israeli ambassadors to Bulgaria, and other dignitaries joined Jewish leaders in Wednesday’s celebration at the 19th-century Zion Synagogue. Funding for the restoration was raised by the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad and the London-based Hanadiv Charitable Foundation.
