A Palestinian woman who planned to carry out a suicide bombing, but changed her mind, was sentenced to three years in jail. Arin Ahmed traveled from Bethlehem to Rishon le-Zion in May 2002 with a bomb strapped to her body as part of a planned double suicide attack. On the way to Rishon le-Zion, she decided not to carry out the attack and returned to Bethlehem. Her partner, however, blew himself up in the center of the Tel Aviv suburb, killing two people. Ahmed will be released in about six months because of time served.
