Speaking on “Fulfilling Destiny,” Rabbi Isaac Landman at Temple Beth Elohim, Eighth avenue and Garfield place, Brooklyn, spoke of the traditions and future of the Jewish people. He said the Jews have no fear of Hitler today as “we did not fear the Torquemadas of the past. The soul-aspiring hopes as beaters of civilizing values for mankind are by no means diminished within us.”
“Our survival,” he said, “is no mystery at all. Men and nations perish—only humanizing and civilizing ideas and ideal survive. From the very beginnings our progenitors, actual or legendary, have been convinced that we possess a mission to be a blessing and a source of blessings to all the families of the earth; and history testifies that we have not lacked the courage to carry on in our conviction.”
