A possible confrontation was avoided between Jewish and Muslim students during graduation ceremonies at a California university. At Saturday’s ceremony, several members of the Muslim Student Union at the University of California at Irvine wore over their graduation gowns strips of green cloth inscribed with the Arabic word for “martyrdom.”
