A proposed law to ban Reform and Conservative Jews from sitting on religious councils in Israel is an attempt to delegitimize non-Orthodox Jews, according to the rabbinical arm of the Conservative movement. The Rabbinical Assembly, which has two members who were elected to sit on the religious councils of Jerusalem and Kiryat Bialik, condemned the bill in a statement issued Monday.
