A representative gathering to commemorate the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the death of Baruch Spinoza took place Sunday at the Hebrew University. The gathering was addressed by Dr. Hugo Bergman who lectured on the “General Aspect of Spinoza’s Works” and Dr. Joseph Klausner spoke on “Spinoza and Judaism”.

“Jewry which is now going through a process of renaissance does not fear the most bitter criticism. It may re-accept Spinoza like the other thinkers who were anathemized before him, Spinoza is our brother,” Prof. Klausner declared.

COMMITTEE, HEADED BY OTTO KAHN PLANS HABIMA THEATER FOR PALESTINE

Further details of the L’maan Habima, the committee formed to aid in the development of the Habima, have been made public. The committee is headed by Otto H. Kahn and includes Maurice Wertheim and Edward L. Bernays.

It is the purpose of the committee to build a permanent Home Theatre in Palestine for the Habima, where yearly festival plays may be presented, and to arrange for visiting tours of the Habima in all other countries.

The committee plans to arrange for the permanent Habima theatre in Palestine in the near future.
