A Roman Catholic fundamentalist who has repeatedly been accused of anti- Semitism reportedly said he wants his “children and grandchildren to be free in their own Polish land without becoming Jewish slaves.” Kazimierz Switon made the comment during a speech Sunday, when he also said he would circulate a petition to build two churches and a synagogue at Auschwitz. Last year, Switon led a campaign by Catholic activists, who planted some 230 crosses near Auschwitz to commemorate the murders of Polish political prisoners during World War II.
