A senior Hamas official returned to Jordan after pledging to renounce links with the militant Palestinian group, ending 19 months of exile. Ibrahim Ghosheh was expelled from Jordan in November 1999 together with three other Hamas leaders at the urging of the United States and Israel, which pressured Jordan to ban Hamas activities.
