Uzi Landau, the chairman of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, said Yassin exploited a trip abroad for medical treatment to drum up support for a terrorist campaign against Israel. Yassin was released from an Israeli jail in October in exchange for the release of two Mossad agents following a failed attempt in Jordan to assassinate a Hamas political leader.
