A songwriter whose compositions have been performed by famous singers penned his last composition for the annual Yiddish Song Festival in Cape Town. Hal Shaper, whose songs have been performed by Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Elton John, approached producer Philip Todres last December, saying he had a great idea for a song, Todres told JTA.
