A symbolic tree-planting ceremony in memory of the bravery of the one million children who perished during the Holocaust will be held by Long Island Jewish school students on May 21 in Eisenhower Park, East Meadow. Simultaneous with the Long Island ceremony, a tree-planting ceremony will take place in Israel, to commemorate the Holocaust, it was announced by Alvin Schiff, executive vice-president of the Board of Jewish Education of Greater New York. Nassau County Executive Francis T. Purcell has proclaimed the date “Remembrance Day for the Children of the Holocaust.”
