A U.S. lawyer representing Holocaust-era slave laborers said he plans to ask the World Trade Organization to impose penalties on all companies that used such labor during World War II. These companies “have never responded, morally or otherwise,” Michael Hausfeld told the Reuters news agency. Negotiations for creating a compensation fund for slave workers are slated to resume next week in Washington.
