A witness in the first war crimes trial in Britain said Tuesday he saw the man on trial searching Jewish homes soon after 3,000 Jews were rounded up in Belarus in September 1942. Anthony Sawoniuk, 77, is charged with rounding up Jews while serving in the local police force in the town of Domachevo during the war.
