Peace activist Abie Nathan, in jail for meeting with Yasir Arafat, has received a message of encouragement from the Palestine Liberation Organization chief, Israel Radio reported Monday.
A telegram from Arafat was delivered to Nathan at Eyal prison by Abd-el Wahab Darousha, the sole Knesset member of the Arab Democratic Party. He received it from the PLO’s Paris representative, Ibrahim Sousse.
Nathan notified the prison authorities immediately, Israel Radio said. Receiving a message from Arafat is itself a criminal offense.
Prison officials indicated that Darousha might have been arrested were it not for his parliamentary immunity.
